Message from Deputy Superintendent Cormier
As one of the two Deputy Superintendents of the Lowell Police Department, I am the Commanding Officer of the Support Services Bureau. The primary function of the Support Services Bureau is to provide physical and technical support for operations, most specifically, patrol. By working together, we strive to make Lowell the safest city of its size in the United States.
The Support Services Bureau encompasses several different areas. The first is the investigative functions of the Lowell Police Department. This consists of the Central Detective Unit, which investigates all serious felonies such as homicides, armed robberies, and any crimes that requires extensive investigative resources. In addition, my responsibilities include overseeing the Special Investigations Section, which investigates primarily narcotics and vice violations, as well as the Evidence Response Unit, Crime Analysis Unit, Dispatch and Communications, Management Information, Finance, and Training.
I joined the Lowell Police Department in 1978. In 1976, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. I went on to continue my education, and in 1981, earned a Masters degree in Criminal Justice at Anna Maria College. After this I continued to pursue my education, and in 1985, I obtained a Juris Doctor Degree from Suffolk University, and I have been a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association for fifteen years. In addition, I am a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forums Senior Management Institute for Police.
Feel free to contact me at any time during my office hours, which are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM until 5:00pm. At (978) 937-3225.
