Three Graduates from Public Safety Academy

LOWELL, MA (December 10, 2012) –  In a ceremony held on December 7th  three Lowell Police Dispatches graduated from the Massachusetts Public Safety Communications Academy  in Maynard Massachusetts. The 5 week course that consist of (40) classroom hours per week teach Advanced Law Enforcement Dispatch, Advanced Fire Dispatch, CPR, Emergency Medical Dispatch, E911 Equipment Training, NIMS/ICS, Handling  Calls for Missing/Exploited Children, Call Simulation and Domestic Violence calls.

18 Police Departments from across the state participated. TheLowelldispatchers that graduated are Clifford Dunning, Barry Gannon and Sernelle Williams.  All three dispatchers are working full time in our communications center.

Superintendent of Police Kenneth Lavallee, Captain James McPadden and Chuck Ouellette who oversee the communications center were on hand for the graduation.

Bingo With Your Grandparents at the Lowell Senior Center

The Annual “Bingo With Your Grandparents” will again be held at the Lowell Senior Center, 276 Broadway Street on 2-19-13 from 1 to 3 pm as part of the National Park Service Kids Week. Safety Officer Paul Corcoran and Volunteer Coordinator Sharon Callery will again be setting up the Safety Table, Buckle Up Pledge Table, and Child ID Kits. Fingerprinting will be done by the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department.  Dental Impressions for the Child ID Kits will be done by Collins Dentistry. Pizza, popcorn and prizes for kids who win as well as prizes for kids who don’t win!

But, most of all, it’s a chance for grandparents to spend a few quality hours with their grandchildren and learn about Child Safety also!
