The City of Lowell Election Commission/Census Office has mailed the 2013 annual census forms to households in the city, as required by Massachusetts General Laws.
Lowell residents are asked to comply with this legal mandate. Compliance with the census is necessary for voters to maintain their active voter registration status. The census provides the only legal record for City residence and is used for veteran’s benefits, proof of residence, public school enrollment, senior citizen benefits, and updating voter records.
The annual census is also used by the City for statistical information necessary to plan and allocate the delivery of public services to the residents of Lowell. The population figure is used by the Commonwealth and the federal government in determining allocation of state and federal services.
Instructions and a return envelop are provided with the census form. You may return your completed census form via mail or visiting our office at City Hall, 375 Merrimack Street, Room 5. Please respond to the census within 10 days of receiving your form. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Election Commission at 978-674-1200. Our normal office hours are weekdays 8am – 5pm. Thank you for your cooperation.
