"We have used much of what we have learned from the LPD in various programs and trainings at the BPD. Seeing what they have accomplished in Lowell has helped us to "think outside the box" about what we want to do in our community. Lowell and Brookline have very different demographic profiles, but many of the challenges we face in the area of race relations are the same. We have been able to learn from Lowell's successes and tailor some of what they have done to better fit the needs of our community.

"The Lowell Police Department has done an outstanding job with the Race Relations Council and with the training programs they provide. Other departments can only help to emulate the success Lowell has seen. They really know what they are doing and care enough to do it right. They had great materials which they provided at the training and, after the training, even provided technical assistance to us on developing educational materials about traffic stops."
